Upgrade your kitchen

According to a 2018 Cost vs. Value Report by Remodeling Magazine, even a minor kitchen improvement can yield a major return on investment when it’s time to sell. The same report states that more than 65% of those who remodeled their kitchen spent somewhere between $21,000 and $64,000, depending on the kitchen’s size and chosen updates.

According to the 2013 Home Feature Preference NAR report, homebuyers are mostly interested in kitchen appliances and cabinetry, with granite countertops and stainless-steel kitchen appliances receiving the highest score. If you’re on a limited budget, you can paint the walls, appliances or refinish the cabinets, to give your kitchen a fresh, new look.

Upgrade your bathroom

Just like kitchens, bathrooms can be deal-breakers when it comes to selling a house. “A bathroom renovation is costly and time-consuming but, when done right, can make our lives so much better,” said Sharn Kandola, co-founder of feeDuck, a site that puts clients in touch with real estate agents.

Remodeling Magazine’s 2018 Cost vs. Value Report, the average cost for a size of 5-by-7-foot bathroom upgrade is $19,000. You don’t even have to bust your savings to make the bathroom more appealing; you can opt for smaller but meaningful improvements such as refinishing the cabinets, replacing the hardware and installing new taps
