#5 Who revolves around whom?

As we all know, some people choose to believe that the earth is not round, as if we are still in the Middle Ages. Yet, this is not the only silly thing that some Americans believe! Some people in our country, despite knowing that the earth and other planets are round, have the orbits a bit twisted.

That is, according to a survey, one in every four people believes that the sun revolves around the Earth. They probably think the earth doesn’t rotate at all at this point. And while all elementary school teachers are definitely reevaluating their science lessons, we will set the record straight yet again: the planets go around the sun, not the other way around.

#6 This president doesn’t exist

A lot of us can name at least the most important American presidents, yet we cannot blame anyone who doesn’t remember a few here and there when their time in the office hasn’t been the most memorable. Some would argue that falling into obscurity is better depending on what you are remembered for.

However, a surprising amount of Americans name one historical figure as president when he actually wasn’t. You would think that people would remember one of the founding fathers for what they actually did, not because they thought they were presidents. However, according to a survey, Alexander Hamilton is named as a U.S. president by 71 percent of Americans!

That’s a lot of people who have taken history classes in elementary school; we’re not sure if it’s funny or sad…

There are a lot of things that everyone knows to be universal truths, yet these surprising facts sound like they are made up when they actually are real!
