Taxi, ridesharing, and delivery drivers
Apart from truck drivers, there’s another category of drivers in danger of being replaced by artificial intelligence: taxi, ridesharing, and delivery drivers. The reasons are somewhat the same: autonomous vehicles will be safer than those driven by people and be able to run without ever needing a break to rest.
Currently, major carmakers such as Daimler, General Motors (GM), Telsa and Ford, as well as technology companies, are testing all sorts of self-driving technologies and applications in an attempt to get their machine-enabled products on the open road.
AI specialists estimate that the first self-driving cars will be brought onto the market this year and their sales are expected to reach 33 million by 2040. With robots taking the wheels, around 300,000 jobs could disappear every year, according to Goldman Sachs.
