Long-haul truck drivers

Trucking jobs have not been replaced by self-driving trucks…yet. But companies in the business agree that driverless vehicle technology could be of great use to long-haul truck driving, especially to avoid accidents and crashes.

According to the CDC, long-haul truck drivers are more likely to drive drowsy or fatigued compared to other drivers, with more than 13 percent of them being fatigued at the time of an accident. Automated vehicles are meant to reduce the number of accidents and save precious lives, but also to make faster journeys, improve production and transport capacity.

But don’t expect to see some kind of AI behind the wheels. The automated vehicles will be equipped with lasers, GPS and other smart tech.
