Let’s not despair, though
Despite the fact that the number of robots in use has increased significantly not only in the United States but all over the world, automation doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. In fact, according to a Deloitte study carried out several years ago, approximately 800,000 workers in the U.K. lost their jobs over a 15-year period but 3.5 million new and much better-paid jobs had been created.
Therefore, we should not fear a job apocalypse. Yes, some jobs will be eliminated but new ones will emerge, maybe with higher wages and career opportunities for workers. With the help of training and education, workers will be able to transition to new sectors and jobs in a smooth and efficient way.
