2. She treats you like a rival and usurper
Until you both got married, she was the most important person in her child’s life. But now you’ve taken that place. There is a new love in her son or daughter’s life, and in her mind, there is only room for one love. And that’s wrong and selfish.
She may feel betrayed somehow. And treating you as a rival might be toxic behavior. You never wanted to take anybody’s place, and you wanted to bring more love into the family, and give your partner the support they needed.
Explaining to her that this is a mistake might be the best solution in this case.
3. She doesn’t respect your choices
This is such a rude thing to do! A toxic mother-in-law will accuse you of disrespect whenever you stand up for yourself, but she will never show you any kind of respect. Since the day you met, she started criticizing your career choices, your appearance, and especially when it comes to your kids, she completely ignores all the parental instructions you gave.
This is so true. I have experienced some of these issues with my mother in law
