Bill asked his ex-girlfriend’s opinion before proposing to Melinda
When Bill considered proposing to Melinda, he felt he could not do it without receiving his former girlfriend’s approval and opinion on the matter. As Bill Gates recalled to Time in the 1997 story, “when I was off on my own thinking about marrying Melinda, I called Ann and asked for her approval”.
Winblad gave her ok saying that Melinda “had intellectual stamina” and would be a good wife and partner to Gates. We can’t help but wonder what would have happened if she had said no to the marriage proposal?
