The Gateses haven’t shared their reasons for divorce
The news of Bill and Melinda’s divorce came as a real surprise and many have no idea why the pair decided to split after almost three decades of marriage. The divorce announcement vaguely stated that they could no longer grow together as a couple. That’s not saying much.
However, according to the Wall Street Journal, it seems that Melinda Gates had started planning for a divorce in 2019, when she had various meetings with divorce lawyers. According to the newspaper, a contributing factor to her decision was the fact that Bill Gates had presumably spent time with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex trafficker.
According to the New York Times, Bill Gates had numerous encounters with Epstein since 2011, claims that Gates firmly denied.
