4. Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables
Once in the past, a thought of visiting this place crossed my mind until I read some stories about it. I previously mentioned my on-going curiosity for reading about horror stories and things that deal with paranormal activities, and that goes hand in hand with my passion for traveling. because otherwise, how am I supposed to see everything I read about with my own eyes?
However, I never thought that a ghost could scare so many people that they wouldn’t check in at this hotel ever again. The Biltmore Hotel had its grand opening in 1926 and became famous after infamous gangsters like Al Capone and President Franklin D. Roosevelt came to do dirty business around it.
Years later, the building became a military hospital after World War II and remained like that for a while. After that, it was the headquarters for the University of Miami’s medical school before reverting to a luxury hotel in 1987. Nothing unusual, right? But I am not done yet!
The hotel proved to be haunted by the ghost of Thomas Walsh, another famous gangster who was murdered on the 13th floor. Nonetheless, there is a connection with this number that has usually been associated with bad luck. There have been complaints from hotel guests about lights turning on and off when no one is around, elevators sending them to the incorrect floors, and messages scrawled on the walls.
If you are searching for a “different” way to spend your Halloween this year, the Biltmore Hotel might be a perfect destination.
