5. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Fernandina Beach
If we’re going to talk about a Classical Gothic story, I am in! During the Halloween season, I like to gather all my grandchildren and tell them stories from the different places I’ve visited. And as you might guess, a lot of them are based on my own experience. One of my favorite stories, that I want to share with you as well, takes place in Fernandina Beach. There are numerous haunted locations here in this town, but St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is by far the most intriguing! According to the legend, Amelia Duryee, the deceased wife of a military commander, had her ashes scattered in front of a mirror. And the next day, a huge crack was discovered across it.
What could it possibly have been? Rumors say that the ghost of Amelia caused the crack because she was probably upset; Who knows?
What do you think about this story? Is this even real?
