The COVID vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna both rely on the messenger RNA or mRNA technology. Despite numerous myths about the mRNA vaccines, they do not have any live virus; more than that, they have a similar efficacy rate, so it’s difficult to say if one is more effective than the other.
According to the FDA, the vaccine developed by Pfizer has 95 percent efficacy rate while Moderna’s vaccine is put the figure for its vaccine at 94.5 percent effectiveness.

DO YOU RECOMMEND ANYTHING WE SHOULD DO OR NOT DO.
You didn’t mention which state you live in, but my mother lives in Florida and she contacted her county health department and has already received her vaccine. We live in Virginia and our county’s health department is pre-registering people under 65 for appointments when the vaccine is available for them. People with underlying conditions do not have to wait and, in our state, don’t need to provide medical proof of that condition. Hope this helps. Goood luck!
