Apple and “batterygate”
In 2017, the famous iPhone manufacturer, Apple confirmed it slowed down the battery performance of its older phones, in the alleged attempt to counteract battery degradation.
This practice, which started in 2016, generated anger among customers and severe public backlash. Apple apologized in an official letter and reduced the price for replacing such batteries from $49 to $29.
