Facebook’s data breach scandal caused quite a stir in April 2019, when millions of Facebook users ended up with their personal data exposed to the internet via affiliated apps.

This happened a year after Facebook admitted that British analytics firm, Cambridge Analytica, harvested the personal data of millions of people’s Facebook profiles without their consent and used it for political advertising purposes. Facebook received a record fine of $5 billion.
