Melania Trump didn’t make many high-profile visits as the first lady. However, some of the social work she’s done over the years has been stealthy. One example would be her work with the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.
According to the Daily Mail, the first lady kept in touch with a teenage cancer patient for over three years. Her name is Caoilinn McLane, and the two of them met in 2017. Their relationship became known in 2019 when Melania Trump made an official visit to the hospital—a tradition that dates back to the Truman years.
According to McLane, the first time she spoke to Melania on the phone was “so special.” McLane’s mother, Libbi, said the first lady had been sending multiple messages to her daughter through the hospital.
She described Melania as “genuine,” pointing out that the first lady really cares for the kids. Overall, this was a great look and a good day for Melania Trump.
