You can get discounts on auto services

When it comes to auto services, repairing your car can feel like a kick in the face, especially for retirees and other people living on fixed incomes. Fortunately, some national auto repair and maintenance chains provide savings to their senior citizen customers.

For instance, Sun Auto Service offers a discount to its 60+ customers while Pep Boys offers customers 55 and older a 10 percent discount. Before you make a visit to your local store, call ahead and find out all the details to benefit from the discount.

You can enjoy discounted or free access to U.S. National parks

If you bought a lifetime senior pass to visit U. S’s beautiful national parks prior to Aug. 28, 2017, consider yourself lucky: you will only have to pay $10. As of that date, the cost of a senior pass skyrocketed to $80, after Congress passed on an act.

The growth in price might not seem so bad if you love exploring the outdoors, especially since the entrance fee for a seven-day pass to Yellowstone National Park is $30. Retirees in a fixed income can purchase an annual pass for $20 but it is only valid for one year from the date of purchase, according to the National Park Service.
