You can get discounts on utilities
An important cost in many households is the one for utilities. Fortunately, when you become a retiree, you may benefit from certain programs provided by utility providers and save up on your bill. To make sure you are eligible for utility discounts, contact your utility providers or local government and ask about discounted rates for senior residents.
For example, customers aged 62 and older receive a discount on their water and electric bills, depending on their income qualifications, courtesy of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Chicago and Georgia Power also offer senior citizen discounts.
