On February 28th, 2022, some representatives of the two countries that are involved in the conflict met in Belarus, near the Ukrainian border, for the first round of negotiations. Even though they were in discussions for approximately 5 hours, they couldn’t reach a common point, and the war kept going.
By the time the officials were discussing strategy and were trying to come up with an agreement to stop the fighting, the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, signed the paperwork that was necessary for becoming a part of the European Union.
On the same day, the Russian army attacked the second-largest city of the country, Kharkiv. They detonated several bombs, which destroyed a few residential districts and killed more than 11 people.
