2. St. Elmo, Colorado

St. Elmo, which was originally called Forest City, follows the same pattern as other American ghost towns. Once upon a time, this location was a gold mine that attracted a lot of people who wanted to either work here or steal from others. The population started to decline as the town’s gold and silver supplies ran out and diseases spread throughout it.

The end of train service to the Great Canyon in the 1920s was the apex of this decline. However, even if the town is no longer inhabited, a guest house is open for those who are curious and bold enough to spend a night there.

3. Batsto Village, New Jersey

Built in 1766 as a location for the production of iron, Batsto Village flourished until the 1850s, after which it was abandoned for many years. This village still contains well-preserved structures from the 18th century, and the most notable one is a blacksmith’s shop. The most terrifying sightings in Batsto, outside the hovering light orbs in the graveyard, have been of the fabled Jersey Devil, which resembles a dragon.

It is located 43 miles southeast of New Jersey, and it can be visited all year round. You can visit the surroundings by either booking a guided tour or go explore the area by yourself. During the spooky season, in October, in Batsto and the nearby Wharton State Forest, there is a guided nighttime hike known as Jersey Devil Bound. Awesome, right? Would you dare to visit it?
