6. Castle Dome, Arizona
This place consists of 300 mines and 80 buildings, which makes it a huge site. These are only the ruins of what this settlement used to be in the 1800s, and unfortunately not all of them are the original buildings, but it’s worth paying a visit. Its story is quite interesting but also a sad one, and it all started in 1863 when a mine owner was attacked by 180 Apaches and left to be half-eaten by wild animals.
In addition, a series of bizarre incidents ensued, including an opium overdose, a stagecoach heist, and a man getting shot while attempting to halt a lynching.
