“Katie, Katie, look…it’ll be fine, you know, I just need to get some sleep.”
The Australian actor’s last known words were said during a phone conversation with his sister Katie. Ledger was feeling anxious, restless and unable to sleep and tried to reassure his sister that he was going to be ok. He planned on taking sleeping pills although he was also taking prescriptions for a chest cold, despite his sister’s warnings.
On January 22nd, 2008, the Dark Knight actor was found unconscious in his loft apartment in Manhattan, by his housekeeper, Teresa Solomon, and his masseuse, Diana Wolozin.
According to the autopsy, toxicological analysis and report released by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York on February 6th, 2008, “Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine.” His death was ruled as an accident caused by medication abuse.
