On February 9, 2012, Houston paid a visit to singers Brandy and Monica, during their rehearsals for Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards party at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was also on that day that she delivered her last musical performance in public, alongside Kelly Price on stage in Hollywood, California.
On February 11, the music diva was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The paramedics were called, and CPR procedures were performed but to no avail. Whitney Houston was pronounced dead approximately twenty minutes later. According to the report of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, the R&B singer passed out and drowned as a result of “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use”. The report further detailed that Houston had used cocaine not long prior to her death and other drugs such as diphenhydramine, alprazolam, cannabis and cyclobenzaprine were also found in her system.
