Elvis Presley

“I’m going to the bathroom to read.”

This is what the King of Rock n Roll said to his fiancee, Ginger Alden, a few hours before he was found dead at his Memphis mansion, Graceland on August 16, 1977. Earlier that day he had woken up and gone to the bathroom. When Alden woke up a few hours later, Presley was still absent from their room. She then went to check up on him, knocked on the bathroom door, called him and eventually opened the door. According to her story, Presley was slumped at the foot of the toilet, not breathing and unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead shortly after, at the age of 43.

According to doctors, The King died of a heart attack, most probably caused by his addiction to prescription barbiturates. He suffered from various medical conditions including glaucoma, high blood pressure, liver damage, and an enlarged colon, all contributing factors to his declining health.

James Dean

“That guy’s gotta stop… He’ll see us.”

The Rebel Without A Cause actor addressed these words to his mechanic and friend Rolf Wütherich moments before their car collided with another vehicle that was in front of them. James Dean and some of his friends were headed to an event via U.S. Route 466, (currently SR 33). At one point, at an intersection, a 1950 Ford Tudor passed and turned ahead of the actor’s Porsche. Dean could not hit the brakes and stop the car in time and crashed into the Ford.

Wütherich was catapulted from the car and suffered several broken bones. The driver of the Ford, Donald Turnupseed, escaped with minor injuries. Unfortunately, Dean was trapped inside the damaged vehicle and had multiple injuries, including a broken neck. He was pronounced dead at 6 pm on Sept. 30, 1955, at the age of 24.
