Selling your DIY products online
For people who love doing crafts, the fact that they can also sell them on the internet and make some money is the greatest thing. After all, what can be better than turning your hobby into a lucrative side hustle? However, if you are planning on selling your creations online, you need to understand a thing or two about your customer protection data and comply with the relevant laws.
“Cybersecurity is potentially the next big area of lawsuits we’re seeing in the U.S. and abroad,” says Nicholas Dowgul, attorney at Felton Banks, PLLC, in Raleigh, North Carolina. “If you own a website and you do nothing (or not enough) to prevent cyber-attacks, you could be sued for negligence if your customer’s data is compromised and they suffer damages as a result.”
What you can do instead: Don’t be a penny-pincher when it comes to your web store’s online security. Make sure your website is safe by hiring an IT expert or use secure online services such as Etsy or eBay.
