Sports drinks
Unless you’re competing in the Olympics, you don’t need electrolyte replacement drinks to keep you fueled and running! There are some proper situations, like working out in extremely cold or hot temperatures for longer periods of time (over 90 minutes). In these situations, sports drinks are warranted.
But for the rest of us who only have a half-hour on the treadmill, water is more than enough. Sports drinks are for athletes that need to stay energized and properly hydrated from the right balance of fast carbs (sugar) and replete minerals (sodium, potassium, and chloride). They contain a significant amount of calories, and if your stomach is sensitive, they might even make you nauseous!
