Facebook wanted to make its platform a healthier place. But it got angrier instead.
Facebook initiated a couple of changes on its platform in 2018, that were designed to improve it and to arrest any signs of declining user engagement. Even so, it didn’t happen as planned.
Mark Zuckerberg declared that his goal was to reinforce bonds between its users, and improve their well-being by allowing more interactions between friends and family. Unfortunately, many staffers advised that the change was having the opposite effect. It was making Facebook and all of its users, angrier.
Documents are showing how Mr. Zuckerberg opposed some suggestions made by his team because he worried they would make people interact with Facebook less.
