Will Prince Charles become the king of the Commonwealth?
As the queen has died, Charles will now become the king. His coronation ceremony, during which he’ll take the coronation oath and be anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, won’t happen until at least a year later.
However, the new currency with his portrait replacing Elizabeth’s portrait will effective immediately start being printed. It seems that Charles has already sat for the portrait that will be on British banknotes and coins.
Of course, changing the coins, banknotes, and stamps with the king’s face will cost England around $403 million, which will definitely shake England’s financial chore.
