3. Take your red underwear for a spin
If you’re single and looking for love in the new year, consider wearing a pair of red underwear. It is believed that by doing so, you will have the good fortune of finding a wonderful partner and that your relationship will be fruitful. This is more of a humorous superstition that originated in Latin America, and it’s been proven that all the people who tried it have lived happily ever after!
4. Eat 12 grapes at midnight
While most of us associate New Year’s Eve with small bites and copious amounts of fine champagne, in Spain for example, it is customary to consume 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight. The belief that you will have good luck for the rest of the year if you can finish eating your 12 grapes (one for each month) before the first of January is more of a ritual than a superstition that dates back to the 1880s.
