When the subject of the current global pandemic came up, Biden was quick to point out that the president had “panicked” over the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 200,000 of their citizens. Saying of his handling of the outbreak, “A lot of people died and a lot more are going to die unless he gets a lot smarter, a lot quicker,”

President Trump took umbrage with Biden’s use of the word “smart”, immediately firing back at his opponent by saying “You graduated either the lowest or almost the lowest in your class,” the president said. “Don’t ever use the word smart with me. Don’t ever use that word.”. His cause wasn’t helped when he mocked Biden for wearing a mask as his family members in attendance sat listening maskless, except Melania.

The subject of drugs came up but not the pre-debate drug test suggested by Trump, the war on drugs or the current opioid overdose crisis sweeping the country but Mr Biden’s son Hunter. When the president brought up Hunter’s discharged from the navy in 2014 for taking cocaine, Biden shouted over Trump, “My son, like a lot of people, like a lot of people you know at home, had a drug problem. He’s overtaken it. He’s fixed it.”
