The United States of Anarchy

As if the coronavirus pandemic was not enough, the United States is now facing the largest protests and riots in the last 52 years, generated in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Mr. Floyd, 46, died after he was arrested for allegedly using a fake $20 note in a shop and a police officer kneeled on his neck for more than 8 minutes, in spite of him repeatedly saying that he could not breathe.

His death sparked outrage and triggered the Black Lives Matter movement and protests on the streets of Minneapolis and other major cities across the United States. Tens of thousands of people took the streets in the days following Mr. Floyd’s death to express their anger and ask for justice. In various cities, the protests degenerated into shootings, looting, and vandalism.
