George Floyd Protests and Clashes Escalate in Major Cities Across the U.S.

In New York City, the weekend protests ended up with more than 345 people arrested (the mayor’s daughter was among the arrested protesters), 33 officers injured, and 47 police vehicles damaged or destroyed. The police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at the protesters and many videos surfaced showing officers aggressively using batons, tear gas, pepper spray and rubber bullets not only on protesters but also bystanders and journalists.

In Washington, the White House was on temporary lockdown while people gathered outside to protest. President Trump was rushed to an underground bunker, together with his wife and son, as protests became violent.

According to officials, six people were shot, and one was killed in connection to the weekend protests and the situation is far from being over.
