Stealing your vacation
According to federal law, employers are not required to give employees any vacation days and days off depend on your negotiation with the employer. A collective bargaining agreement or adherence to a union might make things easier in terms of taking time off but other than that, your dream of spending some time lying in the sun depends entirely on your employer’s whim.
There are states where vacation days are not required while in other states such as California, the law strictly says that vacation days can’t expire, and employees either have to take them the following year or be reimbursed for them.
