The bigger the trolley, the more products you fill it with. Retailers know that and successfully use this trick to make more profit. In some supermarkets, you’ll find yourself face to face with a smiling employee handing you over a basket or trolley.
Apparently, 75 percent of customers holding a basket for shopping always buy something, compared to only 34% of those not holding it. Trolleys and baskets shaped people’s shopping habits in such a way that in the last 20 years, in US stores, the capacity of shopping trolleys has doubled.
