8 Grocery Store Shortages You Might Notice This Summer

Baby formula – Last February, Abbott Nutrition started a voluntary recall of a bunch of powdered formulas under the Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare brands, after multiple complaints of possible bacterial contamination.

The company declared that none of its products tested positive for this bacteria, but the disruption stemming from the recall, followed by the shutdown of a plant in Michigan only leads to the fact that many families are still having a hard time finding formula in store shelves and online.

Contrast dye – Shortages also persisted outside the grocery store. A contrast dye that’s completely essential for medical imaging tests such as CT scans is being rationed in hospitals and causing delays for patients, as CNN reported this week. Coronavirus-related lockdowns in Shangai, for example, where GE manufactures the dye, are being blamed for this shortage.
