Popcorn – Now that moviegoers will return to the box office this summer, they might encounter a popcorn shortage, or in the best-case scenario, higher prices. Farmers are now growing less popcorn in general, as other crops might yield higher profits at lower costs, as the Wall Street Journal presented last month.
An ongoing shortage of truckers is at fault for delaying shipments too. Plus, it’s not just the snack itself that’s extremely difficult to source. Movie theater concession manufacturers might also face shortages of cups, trays, and plastic liners for popcorn bags, according to the Journal.
