Sometimes it’s easier to buy something that’s already cooked simply because you didn’t have the necessary amount of time to meal prep for the whole week. But is this really a good idea? In most cases (at Costco as well), these foods lack flavor, are extremely expensive, and most likely use ingredients that are close to their expiration date.
Even if you’re in a hurry, you might choose a take-out restaurant meal for both price and quality because there are a lot of places that offer today’s specialties at good prices. Don’t forget that many restaurants and fast food chains offer senior discounts! All you have to do is ask politely.

With regard to you stated milk prices at Costco, I check prices sometimes and find that milk is almost always cheaper at Costco than Publix and Walmart in southern Florida. Also, I have always been able to purchase single gallons for years.
Don’t buy soda at Costco either. It’s no bargain, and in general you can get it cheaper at many grocery stores.

Stop shopping there
Some prices may be a little higher for chicken/meat but I find you always get better quality than like Aldi’s. Same for the fruits& veggies. You do have to shop around between various stores…

Nearest COSCO is 225 miles away, so I don’t shop there. I used to shop at SAFEWAY but it is 12 miles away, aisles are narrow, stuff is crammed in the spaces, they ceased having a Senior Discount day. I now shop at a mom and pop store, Cole’s Grocery, only 6 miles from my home. They have 95% of what I want, offer a senior discount of 10 percent every Wednesday, handicapped parking is right in front, easy to pop in, pick up a few items, and leave.
These factors offset any price advantage Safeway offers
