It all started when Ator was stopped in Midland by the Texas troopers for failing to signal a left turn. He shot at them with an AR-15-style rifle and chaotically drove away, indiscriminately spraying bullets at everyone he encountered along the way.
At some point he ditched his Honda and stole a postal truck and continued to fire at people as he entered Odessa. After an intense car chase, the police officers finally caught up with him in the parking lot of a movie theater and shot him dead.
Unfortunately, he managed to kill 7 people ranging between 15 and 57 and wound 22, including a 17-month-old toddler who got hit by shrapnel.
