5. Lafayette Coney Island- Detroit, Michigan
If you ask any native from Detroit what budget-friendly place comes to mind, it will definitely be Lafayette Coney Island. And what would be their best dish? Coney dogs, of course! They are so popular with the locals that in the rest of the country, they are called “Michigan-style dogs” and they are a delight for every palate.
Imagine a fluffy bun loaded with beef, chili, a bit of mustard, and some raw red onions for less than $3. Wow! That’s a bargain! Take them on the go, and I can guarantee that you will turn some heads because, believe it or not, there are a lot of “rival” places that sell thousands of dogs daily, but none of them are as good as this one from Lafayette Coney Island!
With a perfect balance between spicy and meat, this “dog” is one of my favorite dishes from the entire country!
