Tires are not cheap, so it’s normal to be happy when you find good tires at a garage sale, at affordable prices. But before you go ahead and buy them, just know that appearances can be deceiving. For one, even if they seem to be in good condition, they might have been used at high speed, overloaded or underinflated, in which case their damage might be internal rather than external and visible, says Consumer Reports.
To make sure you’re safe while driving, Consumer Reports recommends purchasing new tires, even if they might cost more. After all, you should not put a price on safety!
