Electronic devices don’t come cheap, so, finding a functional laptop, tablet or e-reader at a garage sale definitely seems like a great deal that you simply cannot afford to lose. But maybe you should, especially if you risk buying a device whose history you don’t know.
It might work just fine when you test it at the yard sale and malfunction the minute you plug it in at home. You will not only lose the money you paid for it but you’ll also have to pay a hefty bill to have it repaired.
