There’s nothing wrong with buying something you see and like from a local art fair or even a yard sale. If you can get it at a fairly reasonable price, even better. But not all art is meant to be bought at first glance, from just about anywhere.
If you’re interested in owning an original creation of a particular artist, the best person to purchase it is from a certified dealer. Fake and forged pieces are all over the internet and in the real world, at very attractive prices, so make sure you know who you’re buying your art from if you don’t want to become another victim of art fraud.
