6. You won’t spend much time outside
You’re looking forward to spending hours outside in Florida’s perpetual sunshine after spending years locked up in an office. Keep it in mind as a dream, mostly because you won’t be able to do this very often. Do you recall the humid conditions we forewarned you about? A lot of retirees that are currently living here do outdoor activities like walking or jogging early in the morning when the humidity level is still manageable. On top of this unbearable heat, there are also plenty of mosquitoes that won’t leave you unbitten. Fun times!
7. Limited cultural life
If you are content with only going to the beach and theme parks, then you will be more than happy living in Florida. But if you’re interested in going to the theatre or for a ballet performance, then you will be disappointed. There are plenty of nice museums and art galleries in the big cities of the Sunshine State, but they are nowhere near the level of places like Chicago or New York.
Summary:
In the end, Florida is an amazing place to live for a lot of people, but there are some things that everyone should be aware of before relocating. To avoid stating “I despise living in Florida” once you get there, you should measure all the advantages against these reasons not to live in Florida.
Evaluate your options and try to make the wisest decisions regarding your retirement, because, after all, these are your golden years, and you should definitely spend them accordingly!
