7. Last boat floating

This picture was taken on the 15th of April 1912, and it was the last lifeboat that was put to sea. I can’t even imagine what those people felt on that night.

Maybe they were relieved that they got off the ship, or maybe they were terrified because their husbands or other family members perished.

This tragedy marked the lives of too many people, and the survivors hardly spoke about what happened.

There weren’t enough boats for everybody on board, and the RMS Carpathia saw the signal too late. They arrived after the Titanic sank. To be more specific, one hour and forty minutes after the Titanic saw the bottom of the sea. Horrible!

  1. I know that I died on the Titanic. At age 10 or so, I voraciously read everything I could about the doomed liner – and felt an intense connection. I was fascinated with some of the stories of the passengers. Two newlywed couples from my area, Deephaven, MN were on the Titanic. I can’t recall the couples’ names but one young groom commandeered a life boat, as he had experience sailing, on my beloved Lake Minnetonka!

About 23 years ago, there was a Titanic exhibit at the Science Museum in St. Paul, Minnesota. I cried, viewing items that were brought to the surface: clothing, eye glasses, china, bottles of wine, etc. We were given a name at the beginning of the tour. Of course, I was one of those who perished.

I’ve had many readings, to glean, who was I on this ship. Always felt that I was in third class, can’t imagine the terror, of not being allowed to get to higher ground. The last reading I had was that I was a woman in my late teens, 1st class, who gave up my seat on a life boat, for a third class mother and child. That makes my altruistic heart happy. However, I will not know the truth, until I’m on the other side.

I think naming an ocean liner Titanic, is a HORRIBLE idea!! and, I’ll never partake of an ocean cruise – need to see land.

      1. It happened on my birthday, which is a day of many tragedies, each time on the next Easter Sunday; usually a few days away, I am born again.

    1. I smell the B.S. from thousands of mile… I was a giant rat ( in a previous life) and on the Titanic. I knew all the passengers, and NO you was not on it. Try R.M.S. Lusitania. I think I remember you boarding,

      1. EnjoyIn memory of those who lost their lives lets be respectable in every way that one can be. reading the information, Sad that it happen!!!!

    2. The Titanic wasn’t actually the Titanic. It was the Olympic, sister ship of the Titanic. Do the research. The names were swapped and even now the “M” and “P” can be seen on the ships hull underneath where the name Titanic was, due to the erosion after all these years. J P Morgan had them swapped and had the Olympic sunk on purpose. Dig deep. You’ll get a better understanding of the globalist.

      1. I don’t believe that it was the Olympic! It’s been many years, I’ve read the court hearings and many other books. It was the TITANIC.

      2. They found one of the propellers at the wreckage site. The Titanic’s serial number was on it. That ship at the wreckage site IS the Titanic.

    3. You could have died on the ship. Some people in America ridicule it, but in other parts of the world, reincarnation is a fact.

    4. Very interesting. I have this recurring vision where I am a soldier in a trench in WWI, and a sergeant shoots me in the stomach and kills me for refusing to go over the top.

    5. Sorry but we all only live once. There are evil spirits that have always been here throughout time and try to deceive us by putting false thoughts in our head of passed lives of other people and mislead us from the truth, if we allow them to do so. Don’t believe these misguided thoughts. We only live once then the judgement.

    6. His name was John Pillsbury Snyder. His wife was Nelle Stevenson Snyder. She was my mother’s (Olivia Stevenson Graham) aunt. My great aunt whom I met and spoke to about this tragic night.

  2. Fifty thousand dishes on the menu? What?
And yes the pictures dining room was probably for first class only but the other classes had very good dining facilities, even the lowest class had better than on any earlier ships.
The lifeboats were likely not filled because when they first started getting loaded, people did not really believe the ship was sinking and nobody realized that if you didn’t get in a lifeboat you were doomed.

  3. If another ship came by right after it sank to take that photo why didn’t they rescue them I know it’s just a movie but in the movie the closest ship was said to be 4 hours away.

    1. As the gentleman aboard the Titanic told the captain” it is a sinkable ship” . Built with chambers that allow water to flow over them into the next and so on. I believe it was to save money. Would cost more for more lumber to go all the way up to the hull. It also couldn’t fit in any port really. People would have been placed on smaller vessels to get to shore. When it don’t fit anywhere it probably shouldn’t exist.

  4. When I was a young waiter in a Boston Hotel, I was assigned to wait on a very small group of Ladies, who were members of the “Survivors of the Titanic” luncheon. There were 5 or 6 very old, distinguished ladies who were very nice. I had no idea of the significance at that time, but I will never forget it. Gary

    1. My great grandmother was due to board the Titanic for America, however was late… and missed it. If not for that happenstance my being here to comment wouldn’t be possible. Sometimes, it’s OK to miss the boat!
      Grazie Bisnonna!!! 🇮🇹🤌🏻🫶🏻

  5. and leave the Titanic there in it’s watery grave
and leave the 6 million dollars of stuff there for it belongs to the ones who died
and the money with inflation is not really worth it
and if you do take it you will be cursed the rest of your life

  6. Cynthia J Nolder

A few moments of carelessness? I watched a doc on it, and they were issued warnings repeatedly for hours! They bought into the bs that it was “unsinkable” It goes beyond a disaster It is a travesty!

  7. Sad, but informational. Ommiting safety and backup is never a good idea regardless of company policy. It was error enough by the crew let alone not enough boats to backup such an event. Such tragedies allways have a cause and this article expiained it well. It was somthing more than just an accident!

  8. My mother was 6 years old that year & she told us that she remembered her parents talking about the big ship that sank. Just think, this was long before television & the internet. My grandparents read about it in the newspaper. Such a tragic incident.

  9. Another Charles III

I was on the Titanic. I was the oldest son from Downtown Abby. I saw Jack Dawson with his third class ticket many times who was definitely a member of my club when I was traveling first class. I guess it was a good thing for Sven to bet his and his friend’s tickets in that card game. It was a fine ship, it was the ship of dreams. Old money, new money, and no money at all like Rose and her mother. Those two poor redheads on their way to America.
I was there and I was also on the doomed submarine that the dumb and negligent CEO of his corporation built with substandard technology and parts but was charging so much to go underwater and see the doomed ship that only the super rich could afford to go. No one’s money could save them either time or anytime. Too bad and so sad.

  10. I have been enthralled with the Titanic’s sad story for many years. Every time I see anything about the story I watch or read about it. When you think about the individual stories of the human beings it made no difference whether you were rich or poor! Your fate was sealed and an icy tomb. I have seen other instances where smug arrogance has resulted in terrible results and the English/Scottish mentality usually takes no responsibility for the outcome!

  11. This ship’s story has been in my heart since the first time I heard about. The beauty and majesty must’ve been awesome for everyone to see. The people aboard were enthusiastic and having a wonderful time, until its fate was sealed. It’s hard to imagine how things really unfolded from disbelief to panic and despair. Each individual that survived was a miracle and I’m sure they never forgot their experience. When the wreckage was discovered and filmed the only thing that was important was to be cognizant that it was a beautiful and precious tomb of so many souls. Rich or poor they all were together at the end of their lives.

  12. There is an exhibit of the Titanic Staterooms based on class in Halifax. There also an exhibit in the Luxor Hotel. I watched the Titanic sink on You Are There in 1955. You can see it on You Tube.

  13. The Titanic is why I believe in fate. My then 17-year-old grandmother was scheduled to come to America with her parents and siblings aboard the Titanic. Something happened at the last minute, and they came over a week earlier on another ship. If my grandmother was on the Titanic I most likely would not be here. They weren’t 1st class passengers, and they weren’t steerage either.

  14. Sad story indeed, but I have to call BS on the “picture of the last boat leaving.” The Titanic sank in the middle of the night, but there’s the sheen of sunlight on the water around the boat. And it doesn’t matter to me who took the picture, I want to know who developed the film? Good try guys but that dog won’t hunt.

  15. Three Jewish bankers who opposed the creation of the Federal Reserve were on the Titanic. They never got to oppose it.

  16. The sinking of the Titanic left an indelible mark to my memory. I first saw the movie, “A night to remember”, when I was a little kid. The movie left a lasting impression on me of that tragic day. I felt the horror that it must have been for the people going down with the ship. The many lives lost and the memories of the people who died that day. Thank you for sharing the pictures of the Titanic.
