5. The Captain, Edward J. Smith, and Purser Hugh Walter McElroy before the trip
The fate of the captain, Edward Smith, ended tragically on the night of April 14th, 1912. A lot of people suspected that he was the one to blame for this awful tragedy. Because the Titanic was not meant to sink. It was built to last and due to a few moments of carelessness Titanic was doomed in less than three hours.
It was the captain’s last trip before retirement. A retirement that never happened.
Unfortunately, Walter McElroy died on that night as well.
Remarkable but sad at the same time, the last words of the captain were: “Well boys, you’ve done your duty and done it well.” It’s such a pity that a lot of people perished that night.

The sinking of the Titanic left an indelible mark to my memory. I first saw the movie, “A night to remember”, when I was a little kid. The movie left a lasting impression on me of that tragic day. I felt the horror that it must have been for the people going down with the ship. The many lives lost and the memories of the people who died that day. Thank you for sharing the pictures of the Titanic.
Three Jewish bankers who opposed the creation of the Federal Reserve were on the Titanic. They never got to oppose it.
This is the punishment for what the senior engineer said: “not even God can sink it.”
I believe that you could have been on the ship, things like that are now being told by others.
Sad story indeed, but I have to call BS on the “picture of the last boat leaving.” The Titanic sank in the middle of the night, but there’s the sheen of sunlight on the water around the boat. And it doesn’t matter to me who took the picture, I want to know who developed the film? Good try guys but that dog won’t hunt.

The Titanic was built out of pride.
The Titanic is why I believe in fate. My then 17-year-old grandmother was scheduled to come to America with her parents and siblings aboard the Titanic. Something happened at the last minute, and they came over a week earlier on another ship. If my grandmother was on the Titanic I most likely would not be here. They weren’t 1st class passengers, and they weren’t steerage either.
Jack Dawson and Rose fall in love .
She may have had 50 thousand china plates, i.e. dishes, but one doubts these were individually listed on the menu …
