Hanging a mask (or other items) from a rearview mirror
You might like the fresh smell inside your car coming from the air freshener hanged from the rearview mirror or the stickers covering your windshield, but you might wanna think twice before “adorning” your car with such items. This includes the face masks we conveniently started hanging from the rearview mirror ever since this pandemic has complicated our lives.
Air fresheners, fuzzy dice, and other items could obstruct your view while driving and could potentially lead to dangerous situations. According to Radio 94.5 PST, New Jersey and Pennsylvania prohibit the hanging of “any object or material … from the inside rearview mirror” while in Missouri, though not an illegality per se, drivers can still face penalties if they are involved in a collision.
Speaking of cars, face masks and whatnot, check out these 7 Dangerous Mistakes You’re Making Every Time You Use Your Car during the pandemic.
Using someone else’s disability parking permit
Using someone else’s disability parking permit is clearly immoral but did you know it is also against the law in certain states?
Permits for people with disabilities are regulated and enforced by the states, which means the regulations and fines vary in each state. For instance, in California, park in a space meant for people with disabilities is considered a misdemeanor fraud and carries fines between $250 to $1,000 as well as jail time (the maximum sentence is of 6 months in prison). Things get worse for licensed professionals such as insurance brokers, nurses, or attorney, who could receive extra penalties.
