Singing “Macarena” in public
Wait what? Since when is singing illegal? Granted, it’s the Macarena and some people’s singing resembles goats yelling but is that really a reason to get arrested for? Apparently, it is. When it comes to public singing, there are various factors that could save you or throw you in jail, such as the volume and the number of people joining you in singing the catchy tune.
Back in the 1990s, the Girl Scouts were asked to pay royalties by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) for singing “Macarena” at their campfires. The audacity! The society’s action did not bode well from a public relations’ point of view, but they did create a precedent that others could refer to.
Allowing your pet to disturb wildlife
A beautiful walk with your furry pet on the trails of an impressive national park can turn into a complete disaster if you let your pet to roam freely and startle the existing wildlife. That’s because, according to the Code of Federal Regulations (Section 2.17 (4)) “allowing a pet to make noise that is unreasonable considering location, time of day or night, impact on park users, and other relevant factors, or that frightens wildlife by barking, howling, or making other noise.”
So, next time you take your dog out for a trip into the wild, keep things quiet and under control. Also, to avoid other types of legal problems, make sure that your dog is registered with the municipality.
