How they talk about other people
If someone talks badly about someone else, you can be sure they will have no problem talking badly about you to other people. It’s something gossipers can’t stop doing, not even if you’re friends. What you should also consider is the fact that not all gossip is bad, sometimes gossip can also be good, so don’t judge someone too quickly.
“Gossip can be useful because it helps people learn through the experiences of others while enabling them to become closer to each other in the process,” explains assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences Luke Chang.
Before you dismiss someone for something they’ve said, make sure you know all the facts. Did they say something true? Was it constructive in any way? Once you find the answer to such questions, you will be able to tell if that person is a real gossiper or just someone with good intentions.
