11 Things You’ll No Longer See in Airplanes After Coronavirus

No more headphones

“Headphones are simply collected, made to look nice, and redistributed,” aviation manager Andrew McLeish wrote on Quora in 2017. “There is simply not enough time to… sterilize every headset.” Although American Airlines announced enhanced measures to disinfect everything, including headphones and linens during the pandemic, it will soon become too expensive. It will be more efficient and safer to simply eliminate the earbuds from planes entirely.

No more in-flight magazines

If you used to read airplane magazines during your flights, especially longer ones, you’ll have to keep yourself busy and entertained in other ways. That’s because four of the top five U.S. airlines have postponed their print publications in an attempt to simplify the cleaning procedure in planes and stop the spread of the coronavirus. Delta had to fire some of their staff writers and eliminated all Sky magazines while June issues of Southwest, Alaska Airlines, and United have all but disappeared.

The good news is that most airlines will provide digital content to keep travelers up to date and in the loop.
