No more blankets
Airplane blankets are usually wrapped in plastic packaging. You might think they are new and clean but according to a Wall Street Journal report, most airlines only clean their blankets every five to 30 days. More than that, only the first passengers of the day get to receive freshly washed blankets; everyone else after that gets re-used ones. With the novel coronavirus still wreaking chaos, airplane blankets will probably get the boot even after the coronavirus subsides. No more pillows
Similar to blankets, pillows will most probably be eliminated as well. “I worked for Southwest as a flight attendant. Those blankets and pillows? Yeah, those just get refolded and stuffed back in the bins between flights,” Reddit user @melhow44 wrote. Considering that they might represent a source of contamination (imagine someone sleeping and drooling all over the pillow), some airlines such as Air Canada have already stopped offering these items to their passengers.
