No more drink refills
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, many airlines will no longer refill passengers’ drinks. To minimize points of contact and avoid large water bottles touching a passenger’s potentially contaminated water cup, passengers will receive new glasses instead of refilled drinks. More than that, most flight attendants are instructed to wear medical-grade gloves while serving customers, as well as masks. This change will most likely continue even after the pandemic recedes. Speaking of post-pandemic habits, here are 10 Things You’ll Never Bring Inside Your Home Again After the Pandemic Is Over.
No more self-serve snack baskets
Apart from refill drinks, passengers will no longer be able to self-serve snack and fruit baskets including cookies, chips and other similar items. Again, these will be eliminated so that they would no longer be touched by multiple people and become potential spreaders of the novel coronavirus.
Delta and American are among the first airlines to say goodbye to self-serve snack and fruit baskets. United, on the other hand, kept the snacks but passengers are served directly from a tray instead of picking them up on their own. JetBlue “replaced [its] snack baskets and beverage service with a single snack offering and water.” In addition, “the pantry, our communal grab-and-go snack and beverage area, will not be available on those flights that usually have it.”
