Can you believe that some people have been “barred” from flying with a certain airline company?
By purchasing a flight ticket, each passenger consents to be bound by the airline’s terms of service, which provide airline staff (and in particular flight attendants) with considerable discretion to refuse service to disruptive or abusive passengers. With tens of thousands of aircraft departing each day in the United States alone, this does occur rather frequently. Sometimes the rowdy travelers are actually permanently barred from the airline; other times, it is indeed simply a close call and they still get to catch their trip. In either case, the other passengers on board are sure to find it to be an unusual experience that makes for a funny tale to tell once you’ve landed comfortably at your destination.
